Re: Ninja Experiment sponge replacement

I actually used the really fat pipe cleaners on mine. It works okay. Unfortunately I have moved and don't know how to find things among my myriad boxes, so no picture.

Re: T-236 Vanishing Point

Seeing the video I was stumped. I got one and am surprised it is so effective, considering the method. Thanks for the Magic Pop-Up idea. It's a good combination.

Mental Bento and Miracle Dowsing Rods

With the Bento being a divination and the Rods a general purpose revelation, I found the two work well together. From the time before personal computers and before my first typewriter I have done my scripts with dialog in upper case text. For me this is easier to read with the script on the table an...

There is a big difference between silicon and silicone. A silicon spray is what a sand blaster makes.

Re: "Well...That didn't work"

A person could use the Black Hole to produce the Geometrick effect. If one is ambitious, one could even put a hole in the middle of the prop and the gimmick.

I would think not. The hole in the skeleton is not the right shape.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment

A possible replacement for the foam could be short sections of the fat, fuzzy pipe cleaners found in craft stores. I would think the fibers would hold up better than foam with use. They could be glued outside -- no disassembly required.

I haven't tried this. My foam is in good shape.

The bands on the used one I have were the black plastic ones. They had deteriorated and I spent a lot of time getting the residue off.

Re: T-183 Impossible Pen

The oddball props always appealed to me. (Funnel Vision is a good example.) The plastic knife is totally out of place in this effect. Who uses a plastic knife to sharpen a ballpoint pen? The result is patter about space aliens disguising themselves as pens and my doing an alien autopsy using a purpl...

Re: T-221 Mystery Triangle

I don't own this trick but I was under the impression that it was "just another card frame" that I've seen a million times before. Is there something special about the mechanism in this one? You will notice from the pictures there is no plastic "circle" for a hole to hide behind. Those who have see...

Re: T-072 Flash Dice

According to the Jeffrey Bloom routine, the performer shakes once after the spectator enters the number. "You pick up dice, shake once, then ask if total is the same." This demonstrates that the performer is not seeing speccy's number. One more shake gets the 42 minus chosen number to do the calcula...

Re: Wooden Magic Sets from Melissa and Doug

I can make a few observations about the Deluxe Set. This is something I picked up a couple of years ago. The wooden Age Cards are solid and easy to handle. Each is a different color. A performer would not need to see the fronts. In the "Linking Ring" Dan Stapleton has a routine in which he presents ...

Re: Repair Ninja Experiment

Instead of replacing the foam with more foam, you might consider gluing on each side of the slot some of the really fat, fuzzy pipe cleaners available in craft stores. These should "close around" the pencils better than foam. Epoxy or Super Glue gel should work well with the plastic.

Re: Shot In The Dark

I believe there are seven cards in the stack. The spectator can pick any number under seven (maybe eliminating one and six just to make the effect more mysterious). Because the chosen number and seven are relatively prime, each time the chosen number of cards is moved from top to bottom (the same ch...

I agree about Pencil Without a Middle. Something that small may not be easy to see from 8 feet away.

I guess it could be done a little closer if all the spectators would close one eye.

Individual effect forum?

Occasionally I'll have a random thought about a particular effect. Maybe it's a wry comment, something odd about how I saw someone else use it or what implications the particular design might have when when compared to another effect. Rather than have them scattered over Performance, Collecting, Mis...

I got a magic punch-out book when I was five. I could not read, but my older brother "helped" me with it. He read through each effect and told me it was "no good." He did show me how to do the Wiz Escape. It is the cardboard slide which escapes from a holder with "V"-shaped slots and a brass fastene...
