Re: T-220 Crash Dice

By the way, check out Yasuo's (Japanmagic) presentation of the effect. Paper clips to candy. The container looks like one which was made to hold paper clips. Nice practical idea!

Re: T-220 Crash Dice

I have seen approximately six different brands (versions) of this classic effect and IMHO, Tenyo's version is by far the best! Some are quite small, some are poorly made, and one or two are not bad actually. There are variations on the large dice and small dice. For example, one version uses small c...

Re: Finger Chopper

Does anyone own a copy of the Clarence Miller finger chopper? I was told that the cheaper copies do not work properly. I would love to own one of those numbered walnut originals! The Viking one not so much. I would aporeciate any info you could provide me concerning the one or two copies floating ar...

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

Please allow me to add that in some cases, handing a prop to a spectator can be a needed distraction which allows you to make a switch, rid of something, or do whatever you need to while the spectator(s) are busy.

So, if it serves a useful purpose, then examination can be helpful.

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

It is possible to examine the Fantasma version because the magnet slides and can be moved to the end of the shoelace making it possibly examinable with some reservation. Quite frankly, I have always found allowing spectators to examine props to be overrated. Yes, perhaps some effects such as a Scotc...

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

I preferred the shoelace version as well until a few moments ago. I may change my mind many more times. Great idea about using one of your shoelaces! Actually, if you do that, then the shoelace version is certainly the better of the two! OK, I am back to preferring the shoelace version and I'm...

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

They thanked Bob Little on the video. That's funny! I have known Bob for many years and see him every month at our SAM assembly meetings and don't recall knowing that he had anything to do with that effect. I'll have to mention it to him the next time I see him. After watching that video and thinkin...

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

I just watched Sugawara's demo again and do agree with you Victor that at one point, I do indeed see it as a ribbon on ring effect. So, I guess it's the handling which determines what seems to be taking place.

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

Not a stupid question at all Victor! Actually, I think that the ring penetrates the ribbon. In essence, ring on ribbon, not ribbon on ring.

Perhaps the patter would best determine which is taking place. What you tell the audience is what they are led to believe. No?

To do a complete routine with the Fantasma Ring Escape, you will need to put some serious practice into it.

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

Hmmm ... with all do respect, but as a CLOSE UP (!) trick to me the effect on spectators is less than the 'other' versions like Miracle Ring or the Fantasma Ring On Shoelace. I'm confident this ring can not be shown up close because there's clearly some kind of s*** in it ... . But, as a parlor eff...

Re: Sugawara's Ring and Ribbon Back in Stock

I have always liked Tenyo's Miracle Ring and the Mickey version for kids. Then, I discovered the Fantasma version and found that one to be much better for several reasons. It's unusual for me to prefer a non Tenyo version of an effect but in this case, it's the way to go IMHO. I am wondering what is...

Re: Paul Gertner Cups & Steel Balls

Perhaps it was comments made to him or negative reviews about it that made him feel that way. I don't see any reason why he should have been embarrassed about the performance. He was young at the time so appropriate for his age and very creative. I think I saw it on a Paul Gertner VHS tape. Perhaps ...

You should read Tenyoism so you can learn that the version sold in the US is not the same trick sold in Japan. We received a weak adaption of their original. I did read the description in Tenyoism and personally like the bill version utilizing the clear plastic envelope better. As can be seen from ...
