Better Performance? Crystal Cleaver or Dragon's Altar

Post by Brett H » Sat Jun 28, 2014 6:45 pm

I'm looking into getting some Tenyo tricks for my daughter and eventually volunteer as a hospital magician.

My question is which 'platform' trick performs better? Crystal Cleaver or Dragon's Altar?

I'm familiar with Crystal Cleaver as I used to have the Magic Works version; and Dragon's Altar definitely looks aewsome to use--although one is more expensive than the other and both have some of the same characteristics.

In a perfect world, I'd use both, but if I were to pick one of them to perform with, which should I put more focus into acquiring?

crystal cleaver every time. DA is good but presents more as a 'puzzle' with a knack to it that your audience try and fail (I think it was mazza who said that when we had a discussion about DA before) I use it with my classes a lot, but it's not as magical and baffling as CC. if you have to choose one don't even think twice before getting CC. but that's just my opinion ;)
Now you see me...

I agree. Crystal Cleaver is the better effect. It just looks better and I find it to be more baffling as well. Besides, you could also borrow someone's ring for the effect which makes it more interactive also.

Crystal Cleaver is very much easier to perform and more mystifying than Dragon Altar.

Well now!

The tribe has spoken and my wallet thanks all of you. Crystal Cleaver it is!

Especially since DA works better as, and forgive me if the terminology is wrong, a sucker trick.
That would not be a good angle as a hospital magician.

Crystal Cleaver is my favorite Tenyo.

Crystal Cleaver is 100% reliable and Dragon's Altar is really tough to do in my experience.

I fully agree. Dragon Altar, while I this is a trick I actually practiced a lot, keeps being hit or miss for me ... .

There is a knack to Dragon Altar- I can get it nearly 100% now. This might be a good topic for a "members only" video- tips on how to do this perfectly every time.

I'll video tape and edit it if you perform it.

We need some more videos on the sister website exclusive videos page.
