Milton Bradley Magic Works

Post by Brett H » Mon Jun 30, 2014 1:35 pm

I'm full of questions

I'm looking to track down some of the Milton Bradley Magic Works originals. Right now I'm hunting down youtube videos to see if anything of them would look fun for my daughter and I to use. I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these:

Secret Slate
Eye of the Pharaoh
Missing Masterpiece
Hidden Sun
Map of Skull Island
Crate Escape
Tongue Tied
Ghost Deck
Invisible Hook

Right now I have Eye of the Pharaoh and I like playing it as a 'magician-in-trouble' trick; and Hidden Sun looks like it's a SERIOUSLY close up trick.

I understand that, in the end, it all comes down to what you can do with a trick. But some lend themselves more to creativity than others.

Any suggestions?
Where's my colon?!

In my opinion all of the Milton Bradley Magic works are very good. Most of us consider them cousins of Tenyo. Of course about half of them were Tenyo tricks that were repackaged. Some of those that were repackaged were improved on like Sutekina/Rope of Calcutta. The other half of the range were original creations just like Tenyo tricks.

All of the ones you mentioned are very good. I was looking to pick some out but when I looked at the list you made I wanted to pick them all.

The best way to get these is when someone lists a lot of them on ebay. That is the most economical way to get them. The prices on them are all very reasonable. There are only a couple that would go for more than let's say $30. Those being Rope of Calcutta and Knight's Tomb.

I will be writing a large article on Milton Bradley Magic Works for the sister website. I am excited to do it but right now I have a very large project that is taking most of my time. So for now check out these two threads.

Here is a small thread on this forum discussing MBMW:

Here is a list of all the tricks including the Electronic and Redemptions.

The tricks are listed by Series, there were 4 series of 6 tricks each.

This is something I have found in the magic shop I work at. It is a wholesale price list for the four Milton Bradley Magic Works series from 1996.
