Peter Loughran announcet at the Café that the next Tenyo Elite item will be made of wood and that first they were told that "this next item would not be possible to make in a wooden Elite form". According to him the latest prototype for this new item works beautifully. Further details: "The cosmetics just need to be finished this week and then we can send it to Japan for final approval. Baring no unforeseen changes that need to be done, we should be going into production and taking orders soon.
Like the Elite zig zag cig, this will be a first run of 50 units only, and limited to only 2 runs if we even decide to do a second run."

So probably it will be something with moving parts like Zig-zag zig. What is your guess what will it be?

But the plastic versions are very sought after by collectors, so we think fans of Tenyo are going to be very excited to see this next one in a wooden elite form."

Maybe Simon is right. It could be Mini-Morphosis.

Or Geometrick, Black Hole, Ultra Tube, Crossroads ... It could be so many things.

Geometrick is a good possibility. Not THAT hard to make out of wood I believe.

My guess is Ultra Tube.

I'm going with Ultra Tube as well.

Indeed, though the ring/square is hard to make inconspicuous due to the grain, painting them or making them in brass would help. This version I gave to John B to cast his eye over as I had too much to think about with other submissions to finish it but it is definitely doable in wood..

We also discussed making a wooden ultra tube, if think the parts required wouldn't stand up to consistent use as they'd want to snap along the grain and would be hard to engineer in wood. Still possible tho, my beloved laser cutter would be a good start

After thinking about it this one really could be Ultra Tube actually ... . But as Simon said it would be a big leap of faith for the Elite guys - wood really can expand or shrink with humidity and temperature - I even notice that on certain Alan Warner effects and on Mikame's Card Case which is harder to use properly in the summer.
Your Geometrick looks fantastic Simon. Will you be making these once you have your 'finished' version? Metal ring/square would be possible but they would make a 'clicking' sound perhaps which could give away the secret. Plastic is perhaps a better option?

Thanks David. I could definitely make them in plastic but I'd love to perfect a wooden one, it's just fitting the time in. I'll get a lottery ticket tonight and see if I can quit my job

I came across a link today about the new elite range-:It mentions blue crystal and soft coins,soft coins will be made out of aluminium,any comments

You can definitely make soft coins out of aluminium, they won't be legal tender tho and they'll get bent in your pocket

Soft Coins and Blue Crystal will not be made Elite - production cost too high and/or Tenyo didn't approve and/or it didn't work properly.

it is possible to make thinks thinly in wood, you just have to watch the grain. I made a geometrick out of veneers and alternated the grain on each layer. it stuck a bit tho, it now resides with john b as he has more patience than me.
laser cutting components is a great help especially if you're making more than one. Did you see my mooncatcher vid? that ended up about 1-2mm thinner than moonspinner.
a wooden soft coins is definitely achievable, I just think the trick is too familiar to laymen to be worth making elite.

An anodized aluminum Soft Coins would be more a project for Joe Porper, he could definitely make that. But he won't do that, he only makes his own creations. But a collaboration between Tenyo Elite and Joe Porper for the next Tenyo Elite would be awesome!

I'm still wondering about your picture Pete. Is that an other version of Soft Coins, and the box says Soft Coins too, or are you just a very good Photoshopper?

I think it's a prototype TE had made in aluminium a while back

I watched a video by T E showing ther new elite items moon spinner,fortune sticks,blue crystal,softcoins,must be a while ago,so blue crystal and soft coins must of been prototypes

Tenyo has always been known as the premier plastics trick maker and I think that anything made of wood won't be a re-make, but something new and different and something to set them apart. Thoughts???

This is just no true, just-me Rick, they remade Moonspinner from aluminum, Fortune Sticks from?, and Zigzag Cigarette from wood.

I really like Blue Crystal a lot, but it seems they abandoned that one which is really too bad. I would have liked to have had one with the locking mechanism.
