Japanmagic has posted a nice review of the Butterfly trick along with another very cool routine. Seems like this can really be an excellent utility device.

Also here is a video of the Great Escape trick:

A couple of my boys liked the impaled doll version of the trick better than the butterflies. It is kind of original. I don't recall seeing anything similar to that. I gotta think up of a nice gruesome storyline for it though. :)

This photo at the Japanmagic blog is interesting. Maybe this will be the new Tenyo policy regarding English instructions? No copied English instructions will be included but you can download it from a special url given at the Japanese instructions?

For me the most interesting one is the Butterfly trick from the 2015 new items.

I pre-ordered the set and the price was a lot cheaper than I expected, 6000 yen which comes to about $57.00USD less shipping, but they won't be released until the end of October. On eBay there at $189USD and still has several days to go.

If love to have the scratch to order the whole set. Especially since it comes to 57 bucks. That's good for the tricks they came out with.

Ah well. I'll wait for Magical Security and Magic Butterfly

seo magic has vids for all four tricks up.
1 security of magic has a nice second effect where the card escapes from the padlock. this trick would be cool if it worked the same with a folded bill with a hole punched so you could say "if you can get the bill out its yours" etc etc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpE9NI4F ... AaVich-h3g

2. alchemy of magic looks a bit too obvious which is a shame as i think the theme and concept is really cool. perhaps japanmagic will come up with an ingenious way to make the most of it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a6Ir9PAmys

3. dice escape has me scratching my head and i think will be the most satisfying for me in terms of gimmicks and sneakery, I cant work it out so ill probably enjoy openeing that one most.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utIywos0 ... AaVich-h3g

4. magic butterfly looks efinitely like a force but i guess you can chose which colour to force. my guess is the white box is symmetrical and has a clear window on bothe the top and the base. the white base you see at the start and which gives the illusion of depth and emptiness slides down the pin when the box is upturned, revealing the buterfly. the big black box serves as a way to turn it over, it has shades of dragon altar.
just a guess obviously.

exciting to see the vids tho...

Is there anywhere to pre-book these if you live outside Japan? I checked seomagic-jp.com, but I can't find an option to deliver to Europe.

amiami.com has them for pre-order. They ship internationally.

I agree that Alchemy of Magic does look a little obvious but I think the ball being squished down looks nice at least. Definitely on the bottom of my list though.

Thank you Elliot!

I showed all four videos to my partner, and the trick that impressed him the most - a guy who have no interest at all in magic they way we have and is a pure layman - was Alchemy of Magic.

Showed the video of all 4 tricks to my daughter.

No surprise that Magic Butterfly is at the top of her list. You make a butterfly appear. Screw the cards.

What is surprising is her second pick is Magical Security.

I think I'll use magical security a lot as it packs small and as I said if it can work with a bill even better.
I agree with Fred that laymen will probably be quite impressed with arm as it's visually cool and everyone loves metal. They all have their good points and it's definitely an improvement on last years crop

Yes they all do look nice. But that brings up a debate as to what makes a good trick.
There is a big difference to what I look for as a collector and to what might be a great trick for a layman. As a collector I am looking for new and innovative methods. Something I haven't seen before. Something that surprises me. It may not even be the most practical trick to do for someone but to me if I find it really clever and interesting, it's still a great trick.
On the other hand you might have a trick that plays great for layman and gets great reactions but the method doesn't really excite me. Is it a great trick? Well, yes but not to me so much.
One example off the top of my head would be Popup Card. It's a really nice looking trick and I get good reactions for it but since the method is on the boring side with nothing really new, it is not one of my top Tenyos.
I think some of this year's tricks may fall into that category. It really depends on what you are looking for in a trick.

Magic Butterfly is starting to become more interesting again ... not sure what the gimmick exactly is or does however. Is it a simple turn over or something more interesting? We'll have to wait and see.

I think it it is a simple turn over with a sliding panel that gives you the deep perspective of the box.

I just hope a 5 year old can pull this trick off. Otherwise my daughter will crucify me.

Well, not LITERALLY. She can't pick up heavy pieces of wood.

Me too. I think Magic Butterfly will be an AFTER Christmas present.

That's the worst part about these new tricks, not being able to know the gimmicks, but they are available for preorder.
I'm far too cautious.

I think she'll like Security Lock better in the long run.
