This is a cool trick:

Probably the die can not be examined however, but that's OK.

The only issue, if you can call it that, I have is the cheap looking plexi boxes and tubes ... but the trick itself isn't exactly cheap: 75 EURO.

By the way Rob, according to the description this was invented a long time ago by REBRU, the Ribbon Box inventor!

Yes... I have the same trick, less beautiful but made by Rebru, from the estate of Berry Merlin..

I believe this version is made by Frans Reijnier... I remember when I visited him that he showed it to me. Frans is a great maker of magic items.

Worth 75 EURO Rob? Is it the among us collectors 'well known principle' at work here ... ?

I see this trick this week in an email and thought about buying it but I would like to know how examinable the Dice is, I think it would work like Horus escape or visible Vampire.
The question for me is how well does the block lock.

I can give you the answer. It is not really amazing. The cube simple consists of 2 U-forms. You pay for the craftmanship.

Even though I know the workings of this piece, I like it because of its different approach to the die penetration effect.
Unfortunately, the shipping cost to the United States makes this a bit too expensive for me.
If it ever comes available from a US magic retailer, I will purchase it.
Since I already own a few effects that use this type of die, I guess I could make my own outer boxes and tubes (or even use two short magic wands instead of tubes)

Yes Kirk, you can make the boxes with cardboard, and ornament them with a nice metallic paper. That's how my Rebru version was made of :) About the rolls, yes wands are possible too.

Great idea for Kent indeed!

And knowing Kent, he will always add something extra ...

By the way, I paid 25 euro for the 'original' Rebru Die penetration ...

So, has anyone purchased Cubes and Tubes and if so, what did you think? Is the quality of the piece good and does the die stay together without fear of it coming apart when you dump it out of the box?

I bought Cubes And Tubes and the quality is top notch, you can drop the dice out without worrying about it coming apart because its made quite tight.
I will make a quick video when I get a moment.

That is good news. I just placed my order for one yesterday but I'm sure it will take several weeks to get to the United States.

Yes, Mickael Chatelain is always incredible, yet I am in general not so fond of his creations, it's tooo gimmicky, too clever IMHO... Where's the story? I like his inventive mind, but I don't like all his effects... Am I allowed to say that? Gimme a Jenzo Harmonics effect, then you have the story included :)

I would like to see Kent produce one as well but I am wondering if he can due to the construction of the materials. The apparatus is very smooth as it needs to be for the prop to work properly and somewhat silently. Can a 3D machine do that? Hmmm...

If anyone can figure it out, it's Kent! ;)
It's a Tenyo day in the neighborhood!

Bad part I see about this trick is if the ropes have to already be inside the box and can't slide ropes all the way left and right to show they are not looped inside the clear plastic tube like the old Odd Ball clear plastic box with ball inside trick or even the wand, rings and rope trick that is known to every kid that had a magic book that part will be obvious.

Then the removal of the bottom tube then top drops down you dump out the dice showing no hole for the bottom tube to be in puts all the heat directly on the dice and everyone will want to examine it closely. If the dice actually locked and had to have a magnet to release it then they could examine it all day and never pull it apart. It would be nice if Kent could include a locking dice that would be great. To me it looked too obvious how it is done just my opinion.

As far as that dice it's nothing new I have had this magic box since 1967.
Fits nice and tight does not come apart easy unless you hold it right.
It is impossible to tell it comes apart looking at it.
I think it was called The Secret Box. :)

Unfortunate but the box is plastic made to look like wood. It was very popular when I was a kid everyone knew how it worked. Had a few dried peas inside it to rattle around to make it more interesting to get it open to see what is inside. I seriously doubt Kent can make this box with 3 D printing unless he hand fits it after with files and 600 grit sand paper to slide easy enough when the top falls down it is closed all the way and not fly apart when dumped out all edges have to be made with a 45% angle and done with such precision you can't see the joints. That would be all 8 edges per each U shaped piece making it a total of 16 edges. But we will wait see what he can do. If he can make this box I will buy just the box from him. ;)
