This one baffled me NOT...
Here is a new cube penetrates tube effect, the props look great, the handling is smooth, yet I'm not impressed.
The effect: there are 2 tubes, a perspex or glass square, and a yellow cube. The perespex square goes on top on the first tube, the second tube goes on top of the square, the yellow cube is thrown in the upper tube, the cube falls directly underneath.
I'm not impressed, because:
- The magician doesn't show the 2 tubes inside
- You do not see the yellow cube pass behind the hole in the upper tube
http://www.magicshop.nl/Webwinkel-Produ ... luxe).html
As a lover of cube penetrating tube tricks, I wonder if it's the demo that doesn't show sufficient information.
Anyway, the demo doesn't encourage me to order this trick.
What do you think?

Mikame has a better version of this classic trick. Check this out:

The super high-end version was made by Richard Gerlitz:

I own the Mikame version (it is my 'biggest' trick to date) and it's wonderfull. A litle angle issue when showing the cube in the beginning though
If you like the effect don't hesitate to buy it because I believe it has been discontinued and Mr. Mikame unfortunately left us a few years ago. Mikame will become highly collectable in a few years time if his family stops producing magic (which I don't know about).

Yes, the Mikame version is great ... But I have an alternative version of the Mikame version, the Visual Block Penetration, beautifully made made by Sunil Batra, about twice as cheap , see this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgwvWqTMiDY
So I see no reason to buy the Mikame version too... I believe the handling is exact the same...
(PS The Sunil Batra version was sold by VIncenco DiFatta an is now not available anymore I believe)

Can you show the tube empty at the end of the trick in Batra's version?Rob Rand wrote:Yes, the Mikame version is great ... But I have an alternative version of the Mikame version, the Visual Block Penetration, beautifully made made by Sunil Batra, about twice as cheap , see this video:

Yes I can! I believe like the Mikame version, the upper cube ****************************.Can you show the tube empty at the end of the trick in Batra's version?
Although this seems to be a rip-off, it IS beautifully made! A real quality prop! So buying the Mikame version woud be a bit of a waste of money, unless I would buy it as a collectors item.

It sure does look very sturdy and beautifull indeed On a sidenote, there are older effects like this one so I wouldn't call it a real 'knock-off'.
(btw I modified your post a litle (a wee bit of exposuredoodely), hope you don't mind )

Re: This one baffled me NOT...
I believe I'm obsessed with tube/cube tricks ... I yet ordered the Block thru glass, received it today! (I receievd a LOT today, 3 packages, also the Japanese Fortune sticks from Mikame), and I discovered that the demonstrator on the video performs something wrong... Performing it the right way it is a good trick ... although there's nothing new about this trick. It IS beautifully made! Not made in China.
Re: This one baffled me NOT...
What are Japanese Fortune Sticks, anything like Tenyo Fortune Sticks?
Re: This one baffled me NOT...
How about some English planetary sticks? I hear they're fantastic...
Now you see me...

John, sorry for my mistake, I meant the Mikame Japanese Fortune Box, where you put 40 sticks in, each numbered from 1-40, en then you can guess which number comes out of the gap on top.JohnM wrote:What are Japanese Fortune Sticks, anything like Tenyo Fortune Sticks?
I also own the Tenyo Japanse Fortune sticks, and that is really a very clever principle!
