I also prefer the single needle.

I saw a version many years ago that would allow you to show the solid block of brass at the beginning, and even hand it out. Place the block in the box and perform it as shown in the second video. The mechanism was similar to a push button latch.

"Punct" reminds me somehow of Thomas Pohle's "Inspired" where you also show in the beginning four rods penetrating a plate in a box which are then are pulled out to show the plate unharmed . Kind of a half penetration effect ;).
