Wow that looks great Simon, can you make one for me? I tried to make one with Lego but it didn't work well. This is such a great effect!

Cheers :) I thought it would benefit from at least a bit of surface decoration and being celtic I put a knot on. Rob I'll be making your one on Monday :)

Wow ... great! Does it work as the original does and most important, is the secret well hidden? The original one can not be examined after wards I believe.
Previous to the effect the block can be shwon all around and the ribbon is seen to be threaded through the block. Does the same apply to your version?
Would it work with a ring as the original does? What would the selling price be?
Is the 'setting 'of the apparatus easy?

I have been planning to buy this effect for quite some time now, and if your version is equal quality as the original I will probably buyt it from you :)

The only video I know of is by Martin Breese. There was a previous version to the one that is being sold now and according to some people that one worked better.

I would certainly appreciate it if you could make a quick video of the effect - perhaps not publically due to copyright ;)

Yes, lot's of questions - I'm pretty 'picky' nowdays when it comes to buying new effects, I have been dissapointed too often in the past (not with your effects I may add ;) ).

I will definitely make a video once I'm happy with it. And I won't make more than 5. I have a nice piece of oak I'm hoping to use but could accommodate specific requests I'm sure (I could also make them plain too). The things I need to experiment with are the type of ribbon, ring and s*****e. My prototype works well but I can do better so I will. Video will be up by the end of the week and I anyone wants to reserve one of the five feel free but I'm sure you'll want to see the vid first :)

I also have been interested in this and heard the same thing about the second version.
I will be watching to see the video.

Got what info I know about it from:

Thanks for the link Richard, some good info on that thread. I'm off into town today to find some appropriate rings, I think the ones I've been using are a little thick.
I noticed in the PRC video of this effect that he leaves both ends untied and ties them at the start, I quite like this touch and it also makes reset (a lot) easier. Again this would be optional for any I make, it'll be quite a bespoke service!
My manliness level is going to take a hit today as I'm also going ribbon shopping, think I'll have steak for dinner to counterbalance

Hello all, just a quick update RE Blockbuster.
As I said, I am making 5 of them an d they will be £45 Gbp which will include postage anywhere in the galaxy.
I have begun cutting smoothing and sealing the blocks today, I will post a pic once the second shellac is dry.
After that I will be waxing them twice.
I am following the exact dimensions and directions from Terri Rogers book so they are 45mm cubed.
If you would like reserve one of the two please PM me and let me know the following...

If you would like felt on the bottom as described in Terri Rogers manuscript.
If you would like me to add the knot design or leave it plain.

ok so here is the pic, it's mahogany as you an see, I opted for that as it has a tighter grain and feels solid. also the colour really pops when finished.
the block in the middle has slightly more chamfered edges if anyone has a preference for this let me know it's just an aesthetic choice.

SimonC, thanks for setting one aside for me. I have no preference in style because the effect is more important than style. However, I kind of like the mahogany. Anyway, whatever you think looks best is fine with me. You have my email address or can send a private message when ready for payment. Thanks, Bob

I will try and make a video this evening or tomorrow of one of mine.
They will all come with a copy of Terri Rogers description of the method and I try and rustle up a little bonus effect too.

Here is JHHQ, assembling the blocks and working out how best to package everything together. I'll be printing address labels tomorrow, a few finishing touches then posting Thursday.
There's still one left... ;)

Works perfect!......I already have a Blockbuster so I will not get one of these ....... if somebody don't have it don´t miss this opportunity!!.........is a very baffling penetration with a super clever method.
