Dye-A-Ball-Ic

Post by Simon Layland » Thu Aug 20, 2020 11:38 am

Dye-A-Ball-ic
I searched for years to find the elusive Dye-A-Ball-ic and finally found one https://www.ebay.com/itm/Owen-Magic-No- ... SwSnZewnCA
I contacted them to try and negotiate a better shipping price to no avail ($200) so the search goes on

Wow, that’s really an amazing effect Simon!

But 200 $ shipping, that’s insane!

If it was 650.00 plus 50.00 shipping would someone jump on that. I don't get why ebay is allowing this oobvious abuse in shipping policy.

This is Roberto performing the effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJZBfUmC7_g (as if you guys didn't know already, I know ;) ).
Roberto posted in his comments the following: "in any case I could sell it for USD 150.- plus shipping if you are interested." - this makes me think it isn't as sophisticated mechanical wise as we think and therefore the price + shipping is way too high.

And that shipping price ...

Robertos video is where I first see it.
I think this trick would be perfect to perform for children but I agree its proberbly not sophisticated.

Owen Magic Supreme currently has Dye-A-Ball-Ic in stock for $150.00.

http://www.owenmagic.com/index1.htm

You will find it on page 50 in their PDF catalog.

It is made with black lucite. They say it is more of a comedic routine piece where you finally end up with a white ping pong ball with colored in polka dots.

The prop is beautifully constructed but nothing really sophisticated in the gimmick....require some sleight of hand...I muted the sound in my video otherwise it will give away the secret!...I'm surprised by the price they are asking for it...I not selling mine now, but for USD 500.- I could think it ;)

Crazy price for shipping when you consider the effect was once for sale for $9.00!

Roberto,

I don’t mind doing slight of hand but for those of us into clever mechanisms and methods, do you think most of us would be disappointed if we purchased this item?

Thanks

I'm not really sure...the prop is beutifully made and well constructed, but secret is not really intrincated...it can be used as an utilitity tube for other tricks.
