New to Tenyo

Post by Brett H » Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:21 am

My name is Hurley. Just retired from the military.
My daughter has had a fascination with magic for a good part of the year and it's re-sparked my interest in magic when I was a lad.
I started with a magic starter kit and most of series 1 of Magic Works, to include Mystery of a Dark Stranger (which oddly enough burned me out on magic. I figured it would have been an awesome prop piece, but was disappointed that it was a storytelling card trick; which I couldn't muster the attention span to do properly at the time.)

As of right now, I have zero Tenyo.
But fear not, I just acquired Eye of the Pharaoh from the Magic Works line and I'm in the works of getting my daughter Tenyo Crystal Cleaver, Dynamic Coins, and MAYBE Burglar Ball; as I'm trying to get tricks that she'd be able to perform.
She is 5 after all.

As a relative beginner to magic (abit more serious this time around) and beginner to acquiring some Tenyo tricks, I hope to be able to contribute and learn.

Welcome Hurley.

I am guessing from your user name and email address that you worked in covert operations in the military. On this form we like to know the real names of the people we spend time with here.

Please make sure that your user name contains your first name in some way. We find it more personal that way. You can use your first name and last initial or your first name and where you are from or first name and "magic lover" or whatever, as long as it includes your first name.
Examples of user names:
- John M
- John from Jersey
- John a.k.a the Amazing Azzam
- etc.
Here's info on how to change your user name as well as your avatar. http://funstuffonly.com/tenyoforum/view ... ?f=2&t=193

Milton Bradley Magic Works tricks are great and many of us consider them part of the Tenyo family.

If your daughter is 5 then I don't think Burglar Ball would be good because there is some slight of hand moves. Dynamic Coins is perfect.

Sorry about that, I did make the applicable changes.

And thanks for the heads up on Burglar Ball. thing looks deceptively easy

That is why it is so great. It is for sure overlooked and underestimated. I enjoy performing it.

Welcome to the forum Brett!

The tricks you mentioned should be good for a 5 year old. If you are looking for more easy Tenyo tricks for your daughter I would suggest:

Crash Dice, Clean Cut, Zig Zag Zig, Cubio, Flash Dice, Rope to Silk, Coin Case (probably you would like to purchase a non-Tenyo version from that for her), Crazy spots, Glass Board.
Tenyo Rocks!!! :–)
