The new version is thinner than the older one which makes it better.

My favourite routine is one I learned from a Marvin's Magic set which uses a Himber wallet but can also be performed with Card Case. The new video from Seo Magic showing the Euro Card Box reminded me of it.

Have a dulplicate card and tear of one corner. Hold the corner concealed and place the card under the flap of the card case.
Force the (same) card from a normal deck and let the spectator tear up the card. Take the pieces and secretly add your piece. Place them in the card case and give the spectator the corner piece. Close, open and behold ... the card is restored and the piece the spectator holds on to matches!

Another fantastic routine (called 1, 2, 3 HOLE! by Tomoyuki Shimomura) with holes in a card is the one found in a Tannen's catalogue (I have a scan of the original catalogue). I'm not going to retype the whole routine, it can be found here: http://tenyo-magic.blogspot.be/2010/05/t-040.html .

The Tenyo Magic Blog has a pretty cool routine from Tomoyuki Shimomura.

That's so cool! I'll have to watch this a few hundred times but you're right, there are a few seconds where both hands are out of shot and it's just the case. Provided you were very careful you could open and do the final switch. I hope it's something more devious than that tho, perhaps a second plate in the box. Or maybe he's got hold of some nano bots to cut out the face...
Ok no nano bots.
Thanks Roberto!

Japanmagic replied to me. It seems the routine will be in the Tenyo book - he promised someone not to reveal it ;)
He did say there were no camera tricks used and you have to look at the video very carefully because you can see something out of the ordinary ... .

I was thinking about a plastic/cardboard black plate and the metal/magnetic plate on top of eachother in the left compartment. Close the box once while hiding a magnet in your hand or on your finger and keep the finger over the box - the piece of plastic or cardboard falls in while the magnet keeps attached to your finger/hand. The second time you don't use the magnet and the magnetic flap falls in.
However, this is not the way Japanmagic does it!

The only thing I can see 'fishy' is when he closes the box for the second time it looks like he micht be hiding something on his right thumb - the thumb is hided behind his hand and the thumb goes into the box while closing it. But I could be totally wrong here.

Anyway, I asked him to join the forum, we'll see :)

The way in which he places the sword each time is a bit fishy too...

@ 1:02 he kind of pushes his thumb on the inside of the lid. And the sword goes in after this has closed.. Hmm I love this bit about magic!

On his website he sais something in the lines that this can't be performed with a (one?) 'normal' card case. But google translate can be a bit off with the translation.

Sounds like you need the magnetic plates from 2 card cases and the second one gets dislodged at the crucial moment

I like to use the card case together with something else. I do not think it does so well alone... except in the Halloween special discussed above... I use it with John`s Houdini Blackbox Metamorphosis effect: place good copies of the curtain card on both sides (permanently or temporarily) and let Bess & Harry change places there (plus in the Houdini Box)...
