I gave Ninja Experiment a 10.

Pros:
Very original
Great props
Great Name (any experiment related to Ninjas has to be cool)
Easy to do
Gets a great reaction
100% Success Rate

Cons
It is not easily obtainable (1 every 2+ months)
It is expensive, costing in the area of $250+ for a shrink wrapped one
The foam where the pencils are inserted is not dense and can tear and become tattered
There is a very slight angle concern
It does not come with pencils. You have to provide your own.

I still hate myself on selling this trick for 25 EUR years ago and I left with nothing. But at least I still remember on how it worked. A very unique and excellent mini illusion. I would like to rate it as 10 but I tick the 9 because I didn`t own it anymore :)

Will the pencils damage the foam after constant use? I use the spikes of Nail Box from Fantasma Magic Set instead of pencils to put less strain on the foam. It is not as effective as pencils but I just want to make sure that I will not damage this expensive prop.

I gave this trick a perfect score even though I do not like the second secret. I think the second secret is not necessary unless you always perform this trick at the desired angle.

Another top-Tenyo effect. The construction is so very clever; there are two secrets which makes this my favourite gimmicked self working mini illusion.

Yes Bob, de foam becomes damaged when you aren't carefull when you put the pencils through them. I've seen several second hand Ninja Experiments online that have pieces of foam missing. This can RUIN the trick. I use pencils that aren't sharp (which means with their cap on).

I once had a Ninja Experiment with foam in bad shape and decided to try to open the apparatus. That was a mistake. The whole trick is glued together and there is no way to open the white front pieces to replace the foam without damaging it. I can only think of one solution and that would be to cover the foam from the outside (on the white 'pieces') with some other (elastic) material.

As Bob said, the second secret makes it pretty difficult to perform correct without anyone noticing something. The angle you place it, the table cloth or close up mat you use, the light conditions ... everything has to be perfect.

About the routine, I don't think there's much room for creativity with this one. You'll have to use what Tenyo supplies you with, apart from the pencils you use of course.

It would be cool if there was a way to print an image of a person onto the plate, maybe a ninja. It would look pretty painful tho ;)

Good idea Simon and that would be possible perhaps, but the green plate is pretty delicate so you'd have to be carefull when pasting something on it. Also, I believe there is only a small margin for error, if the green plate becomes too ***** the trick won't work anymore.

The Wandering Hole was actually comparable with Ninja Experiment and even better because it is an open display. The illusion is really convincing. At the time when TWH released, I believe the reaction was really2 strong, even for magician. I`m not sure about the history, but the pen for the wandering hole could be also the inspiration for the pen through bill effect.

A possible replacement for the foam could be short sections of the fat, fuzzy pipe cleaners found in craft stores. I would think the fibers would hold up better than foam with use. They could be glued outside -- no disassembly required.

I haven't tried this. My foam is in good shape.

Finally I can rate it! Bought it a month ago and finally it has arrived:)
I give it a ten as well, nice prop well made and 0% failure...
These are important to me because I'm clumsy.
I bought one with shrink wrap so it was SO EXPENSIVE
I shall eat rice with rice for the rest of the month...

Congratulations Shan...!! You are getting closer to complete the whole Tenyos ;).
Would be great if we can change the T-242 China Surprise become real and eatable by magic....so you shall not suffer until the rest of the month.:)

Oh, sorry... Now I checked Botond's profile and saw that he is a guy. I did not know before (that's why the "him/her" I used in my last post).

He is a very nice person to buy from. :-)

Because if it's coolness, and creativity this is a TEN for me. My foam is in perfect shape but I appreciate the discussion/tips/suggestions regarding the care and replacement of the foam.

There is a sealed Ninja Experiment in eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tenyo-Magick-Tr ... 25a723aecb

Obviously, I do not have all that money. But if I had, I guess I would not buy. What if I opened the package and discovered that the sponges had disintegrated?!!!!
