What I really like about this trick is that it is so simple. Insert panel into tube. Drop ball through. No suspiciously complicated props or moves.
At first I thought this was going to be difficult to hand out to examine but it turns out the heat is actually on the ungimmicked portion of the trick so it wasn't to difficult to switch out the gimmick.
Once that's done it is great fun to watch your spectator try to put the pieces together and try to figure out why they can't duplicate what looked to be so simple.

PERFORMANCE NOTE:
You must be very careful and confirm that you are sliding the plank out the proper side after the ball drops otherwise you will really mess things up.

Been there done that. Ouch!

I can repair a broken gimmicked plank using the same material from an actual Tenyo trick.

Yes you have to maintain concentration on which side to remove from.

Simon, there are so many very nice rip-offs of this trick, like I stated before. I don't possess the original Tenyo either, but I do have a perfect working Monster Ball, for sale at Zaubertricks.com :)

For some reason I have not yet performed this trick to anyone ... I should give it a try I suppose. What put me off was you needed to change the gimmicked plate for the normal one if you want this to be examinable. But with some audience management it is doable and a visual stunning effect.

Just throw the ball to the spec after it is done, everyone, especially the spec will have their eyes on the ball. You can do the switch then and then place down the tube and the plank.

I am the same as you David that I have never performed this for anyone but myself. It is great though and very easy to do.

I have performed this a couple of times. The people I showed it to were most interested in the tube. They especially tried pushing the circular protrusions on the tube assuming it was some kind of button that opens a secret something-or-other. There was plenty of time to switch the gimmick on my lap before they even wanted to look at it. Give it a try. If you do the switch successfully the spectators will never have a clue as to how this works.

Wow, I really like this trick. I just bought it for the low price of 50$. I can't wait to receive it.
