Magic Wagon - Imperial Vase Mystery

You place a vase inside the cabinet.

You penetrate it with four blades side to side and back to front.

Finally you insert a rod right through the cabinet from left to right.

At the end, the vase is totally intact.

Inspired by U.F. Grant’s effect Bamboo Chest and Glass.

PS I wanted to copy and past the original announcement from FB, but didn’t succeed. Hence this short description.

Here is the formal description:

The performer displays a beautiful ornate cabinet and removes the front cover showing it to be completely empty. He then replaces the cover and shows the cabinet all around. A beautiful vase is then shown to be perfectly solid and placed into the top of the cabinet in full view. Now, with absolutely no hesitation, the performer inserts four solid brass blades through the cabinet from side to side and front to back. There is no question they must be penetrating the vase because these blades fill the cabinet and there is no room for them to pass without striking the vase. Then to add an unbelievable kicker, a solid wand is pushed through holes on the sides of the cabinet! Remember, the vase is actually in the cabinet as shown in the first photo!

The performer again shows the cabinet all around, removes the wand and blades and shows the vase to be completely unharmed and still perfectly solid! The cabinet, the front cover, the wand and brass blades may now be handed out for examination, if desired. It is a stunning and inexplicable effect!

This beautiful magic effect has been inspired by one of U.F. Grant’s finest creations called Bamboo Chest and Glass. It is unquestionably one of the best miniature illusions in magic ever created.

The entire outfit is extremely detailed with engraved floral motifs and each set has also been painstakingly and individually hand-crafted by our own exclusive artist.

The cabinet, without the front cover in place, measures approximately 10cms wide, 10.5cms high and 9cms deep.

The photos really do not do justice to this very elaborate piece of magic apparatus! This is, without question, one of the finest and most exquisitely detailed effects we have ever produced. It is absolutely stunning in appearance!

Looks nice, but handing out basically everything for examination, except the vase, sounds like a bad idea, since it will draw too much attention to the vase itself.

Better not hand out anything, in my opinion.

The look is beautiful crafted again and I also hoped for an opaque glass/vase which I like very
much. However, it seems that filling this vase with a liquid is no longer possible, which for me
was a highlight of another version - For me the lack of this possibility is a big disappointment

Looks absolutely beautifull, but it is a missed opportunity it doesn't use a real glass with liquid (which, like in the demo of Bamboo Chest, can be spinned around in the air) ...
I also read in the description the vase is inserted inside the cabinet AFTER the front cover is in place and removed at the end BEFORE the front cover is removed ... . I sincerely hope you can put the vase in the cabinet and afterwards close the front door so the audience was able to see the vase standing straight up.

The vase can withstand brief or normal examination. As an example, you can ask a spectator to hold it for you at the beginning (and maybe to remove small flowers, etc.). The vase looks absolutely normal. You can also show it all around at the end, but I would not give it to David De Graef for an in depth examination at that point!

Simon, at first I wasn't even aware the vase was gimmicked to be honest ...

As much as I love a lot of Magic Wagon's creations, this one doesn't seem to be for me. Putting some fake flowers in it at the beginning of the routine is a good idea by the way - fake flowers don't need water, so it makes perfect sense no water is used in the routine.

As often, perhaps I'm overthinking this trick and laymen will like it a lot.
Afterall, in my case at least, I perform for laymen and students (teenagers) - there are tricks that are so very obvious for us, collectors of magic apparatus, but have an unbelievable impact on a 'normal' audience! MW's Badland Box is a fine example of this.

I have a soft spot for these penetration effects with blades, little swords etc. Despite some concerns regarding presentation and handling, I finally couldn‘t resist this cute little vase .

The video is excellent. Agree with some others that no need to show the wand inside the vase, but a minor comment on an excellent performance.

A nice presentation Olaf, but this trick still doesn't impress me much. It is very pretty, but to me it seems obvious. There is simply too much space.
