After seeing the performance videos, I am glad I passed on this one. The Olaf video is a better performance because of the covert/overt moves in the handling. But the Madison video is a more honest trailer.
I'm unsure of how well Olaf's handling would work in my live performance situation. I have experience with similar handlings of Liquid Glass style tricks, Fujiwara style choppers, and several other tricks. And those types of moves work very well. But there are some tricks were those moves don't work as well as we think. Without performing it live myself, I can't say for sure.
I think this trick took us back a step from Crystal Cleaver and similar tricks. Diamond Block Mystery basically exposes CC. The whole trick just doesn't make since and can be reverse engineered easily to figure out the method. The trick just tells on it's self. With CC that is not the case because of the built in misdirection, motivation, and locking out for examination. The noisy operation of CC has not been an issue for me. It constantly baffles people.
Is DBM a levitation with a penetration, a teleportation of the block onto the rod, or some other definition? The effect is not clearly defined. It is open to interpretation and relies on verbal patter to define it.
The best definition may be that you close the box, and when you open it things are different. With CC the effect is clearly defined in the spectators mind after the performance. That creates psychological inertia that makes the trick harder to figure out. And CC can be done without verbal patter and the effect is still clear.
I'm looking forward to Magic Wagon's next release. They had some recent releases that were great.

Roger, first of all I would like to say that I don't regret the purchase, although I was a bit
undecided with it at first. In terms of handling, I don't see a problem here at all & telling
a magical story shouldn't be that hard either plus more story options are possible.
CC is of course a super small plastic trick and has the advantage that you can hand it out
to spectator what is unfortunately not possible with the MW version but that can't always
be the main focus because then most tricks couldn't be demonstrated.
I agree with you though, that with the DBM a hunch about what is happening
is more likely to emerge but this assumption will quickly evaporate in the
astonishment moment of most viewers.

Well I was wondering how long it would take for someone to do this, I personally think it improves the mystery!

I wanted to demonstrate this as well, but didn't want to take the risk of damaging something,
as I wasn't sure if this wouldn't eventually lead to a disaster. Connected with another "move",
however, it is a real enrichment for this effect - A silent variant of Tenyo Crystal Cleaver but
unfortunately without the transparent box ...
