Sad News About Our Friend Mr. Wizard/Richard W.

I am very sad to inform everyone that our dear friend Mr. Wizard/Richard W. has passed away. Richard was suffering from ALS and it was a real struggle at the end. He only told a few of us. His wife contacted me today and told me that Richard passed on Sunday and he wanted her to reach out to us to "say goodbye to everyone on the site."

Richard was a career locksmith and magic enthusiast that could not use his hands to do the things he loved. Richard was very proud of the Penn and Teller Fool Us thread he started and he was very thrilled when I made him a global moderator for this forum. His words were "I finally made it.”

My prayers and thoughts are with Richard, his wife and family during this sad time.

I did know he was suffering from ALS, and that it was difficult for him to physically write, and consequently it took him quite a bit of time to post anything. Now he struggles no more.

Very sad news. Richard’s posts in the Joke of the day thread brightened many of my days and put a smile on my face, let’s hope his being a member of the forum did the same for him. He will be greatly missed!

Indeed this is very sad. Richard shared the unfortunate news of his diagnosis with a couple of us.

His humor, enthusiasm for Fool Us, and importantly, let's not forget his masterpiece of a magical lock that he built by hand will live on here.

Really sad news…

Not only did RichardW pass away, but you, JohnM, also lost a very dear friend…

And most of us didn’t know that behind the jokes there was a Tenyo member suffering…

I’ve had a boss once who suffered from ALS, and it was sad to see him getting worse gradually from day to day … until his heart stopped forever.

Very surprise and sad to hear this. Richard was the one who thought me how to use Paypal. Funny but true. He was a great and nice guy. His "Joke of the day" post will be missed. Rest In Peace, Richard.
