The best way to make the prop is on a CNC machine. Even then, you'd have to glue the pieces together precisely to get it to work smoothly.Steve S. wrote:I would like to see Kent produce one as well but I am wondering if he can due to the construction of the materials. The apparatus is very smooth as it needs to be for the prop to work properly and somewhat silently. Can a 3D machine do that? Hmmm...
If anyone can figure it out, it's Kent!

Re: This one baffled me...
Here is a very baffling effect: Joao Miranda's Haunted Box:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwzuXTVWFU8
Probably you will all already heard about it ...
A box that suddenly closes its lid as if it is enchanted by a ghost, exactly at the moment of the chosen card or anything else...
And .... I am today the happy owner of this box, the Deluxe version Ordered the last copy at magicshop.nl. They happened to demonstrate this box this same day...
This is really something special, and my first electronic item ... I thought it was mechanical, but no ... I am impressed. and tonight my wife was really scared when the lid suddenly 'BAM' closed at the right moment...
Maybe I'm the only one who was so silly to order it, because it is not cheap ...

This one is right up our alley:
Looks fantastic. I know Rob once posted a similar effect on his Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVtmTQlxcGg&t=41s) but this looks more impressive. I'm baffled

Well that is a bargain: $1,695.00 - I mean it is very good and well crafted but out of reach for meBillD wrote:Currently one for sale at Hocus Pocus
Most of the Richard Gerlitz magic items are beautifully made and have an exclusive flair that i like

I do see here some more sophisticated techniques applied in this trickDavid DeTenyo wrote:Looks fantastic. I know Rob once posted a similar effect on his Youtube channel
But since this is open to the public I prefer to hold back my insights

I watch it over and over again and am thrilled by this effect, my brain try to catch the secretRob Rand wrote:This is super clean! Amazing! 100 times better than my Made in India trick
Maybe somebody knows the secret & like to exchange insights about it in a hiden thread ...
Re: This one baffled me...
The performance is extremely well done. It is nice to be amazed Olaf- enjoy it!
I was bidding on one these at auction about a year ago, but didn't have the high bid, unfortunately.
Richard has some of the tightest tolerances I have ever seen in a magic prop- for example, the back panels on my Family Ties are within a mm and are a perfect fit. What sets him apart is the highly complex mechanisms and the level of engineering under such tight tolerances.

I love such work that was carried out so precisely and lovingly and used high quality materials

I don't collect them but have always had a deep fascination with Automatons. I know of an incredible collection of complex Automatons which are wasting away in Florida. Owner has no interest in parting with them. So that's baffling to meVictorS wrote:Anyone collects coin banks ? Beside Tenyo versions there are so many other cool versions that amazed me
