Last month I attended a lecture by Mr. Tomoyuki Shimomura, who was one of Tenyo's creators. Usually he doesn't give lectures, so it was a rare and precious opportunity. The first half of his lecture included presentations of his new magic, and in the second, his theory of how to create magic. As a bonus, after the main lecture, Mr. Shimomura performed some of his great Tenyo products. For more, go to my blog (in Japanese) to see pictures of this fantastic event.

Inspired by this lecture, I made my own version of ‘Crystal Pyramid’.

What a wonderful opportunity you had to attend that lecture!
Beautiful job dressing up Crystal Pyramid with an attractive and familiar theme! It makes the presentation much more interesting and meaningful.
You have inspired me to attempt to dress up a Tenyo trick as well. For some time now, I have been thinking about altering a very popular Tenyo trick with an unusual theme. Perhaps I will do so now.
It's always a pleasure seeing what you come up with Yasuo.

It's a Tenyo day in the neighborhood!

I love pirates so this is a big thumbs up from me! I love the mechanics of this trick but was always reluctant to perform it because of the noise. You've inspired me to crack mine out again and rediscover a classic!
Now you see me...

I already saw this a few days ago, the Pirates version, and actually thought this was a special Tenyo-version, but now I understand that you changed the design yourself, Yasuo ! Now I like it even more!

Mr.C: if you read about "Crystal Pyramid" in Tenyoism (or watch Shimomura perform it on the video I shot) you will see how to do it without any odd noise.

Gracias Señor Kappa, I shall consult the oracle

Incidentally I have the green/yellow MB version are there any significant differences in quality between that and the Tenyo one?

The Tenyo version (normal release) is the green and yellow. The first release by Tenyo was at FISM, and the base is purple.
The Magic Works version is different: the base is gray (like rock) and there is no pyramid (because the dumbells are afraid some child will poke his eye out). It's a flat-topped box.
So, if your version is green base with a yellow box, and a clear plastic pyramid, then it's an original Tenyo.

The Chinese copy of it is also green and yellow and looks almost the same as the Tenyo version. So if it doesn't say Tenyo on it, it is probably the cheap copy.

I made the mistake of buying the knock off piece of junk, the website I bought it from worded it "the Asian version"
When you buy the Tenyo version you will feel the difference in its smoothness in the movement.

I am always surprised when I hear someone say that this apparatus makes noise. If handled properly (gingerly and smoothly), noise is not an issue.
Perhaps I would best describe the handling as "escorting" the movement which results in eliminating any conspicuous noise.
A great Tenyo trick for sure!

This is one of those clever Tenyo items which defines the "love" for Tenyo items!
and now, on with the show ...
