T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
This too is one of my all time favorite Tenyo tricks! I’ve been trying to find some small, fake plastic pencils to replace the real pencils. Maybe even some small decorative chopsticks would work.
Something to replace the black sponge will be necessary if you perform this often.

Congrats on achieving the acquisition of this Tenyo item Jeff!
So am I the only one who wants one of these and still does not own it?

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Steve, how is that possible?!?!?!
As for my idea, I am currently going back to school for CNC machining...maybe i`ll turn some tapered stock and engrave them once I get to that point

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
I am holding out for a brand spanking new one still in the cellophane seal and have yet to find it. I have heard that used ones have issues sometimes and for the high price that they sell for, I prefer to wait until I find a sealed one to avoid headaches. Maybe I will eventually score one.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
The only issue I know of is the black sponge not covering the entire middle section/'gap' anymore - otherwise there shouldn't be any problems.
However this is a serious issue of course. I don't know anyone ever found a solution for this. What I would do is neatly cover outside of the middle section with some stretchable black cloth - never tried it though.

Ich habe Ninja Experiment auch und finde es wirklich sehr gut. Auch die Zuschauer sind begeistert.
Ja der Preis war nicht günstig aber ein wirklich schönes Requisit - bin stolz das zu besitzen.

Yes, the price was not cheap but a really nice prop - I'm proud to own it."

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
So I have some exciting news, I have just finished successfully replacing the foam! If anyone wants to know how to do it, I posted progress videos on the tenyo collectors facebook page, but might be able to post them on youtube and then post links here if you`re not on facebook. IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO, just have to be very careful in doing so!

Alex, I found a seller here in Brazil: https://riomagicpoint.loja2.com.br/6071 ... wTj_A.link the trick is going for 380.00 reais.AlexBrazil wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2015 2:55 pmThere is one Ninja Experiment on auction right now in eBay:

I am sad the seller would not ship to Brazil... so I can't bid![]()
Note: I already bought a blue crystal from him, but it came with a little problem, and I don't know if this store sends its products abroad.
Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Hey Jeff,
This is one of my favorites as well. I would love to see this done in wood...or even 3D printed.
I’m glad you finally got this one as it is one of Tenyo’s best.
I can’t wait to see your idea for replacing the pencils.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
I saw that Max Maven's magic collection is up for sale at Potter & Potter. I thought folks here might like to know that the one Tenyo item in the collection is Ninja Experiment. If you had to pick only 1 Tenyo item, this is a fine choice.
Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
To me it looks like the secret at the lower part of this trick would be pretty obvious to spectators, but perhaps it isn't? In particular, it looks like if the spectators are sitting down so that their eyes are nearly level with the prop, then the illusion will break completely.
Very clever thinking from the man who created it, though.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Where the spectators are sitting is indeed very important - it is best if the spectators are looking down at the trick at a sleight angle. And to be honest, it is indeed more a miniature stage illusion that works best on camera where you can get the perfect angle. I for one have showed it to family or friends but never had the intention to fool them. It is nonetheless a very well designed trick, a must have for anyone who likes clever self working miniature illusions.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Since I am not really a collector, I would never want to pay for an original of this trick, and I am mostly interested in tricks that are actually fooling for family and friends, so for those reasons this is perhaps not for me. However, I could spend some time creating my own version, as with 3D-printing that would be fairly simple. However, it can't be fully 3D-printed, some stuff (like the clear plastic parts) will need to be made from acrylic sheets or similar.

USD 415.-....not sure if this is too high or to low for this effect?....I think I have seen it go more than this.

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
It is a ridiculous amount of money for what it is, but that can be true for almost any kind of collector's items that are hard to find.
I played around with a 3D-printed prototype of the lower part of this trick, just to gain some understanding of how angle sensitive it is, and I concluded that it is not something I'd even consider using in any performance.

I remember you said a nice part of the trick is the removable base ... .

Re: T-132 The Ninja Experiment
Did you try performing the trick without the base? Is it practical to hold the frame in such a way that it does the same job as the base would do?Roberto B. wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:39 amLOL...no worries...I was mentioning that for me the clever part of the trick is in the frame more than the m----r base.Roberto B. wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:34 pmRoberto, I am so sorry but I overwrote your post by accident![]()

I have not, you should hold the frame similar than this video (for sure would need less cover than the video):
